Celebrating Día de Reyes

543380_534769176542149_534521095_n 582380_468146196574792_2085240671_nFor those of you, like myself, who did not know what Día de Reyes (King’s Day) is, you may have wondered why everyone was walking around with brightly colored boxes yesterday (Jan. 6th).  This day is the commemoration of the arrival of the 3 Wise Men and is celebrated by eating a Rosca de reyes (a round cake decorated wtih candied fruit on top).  Traditionally the cake also hides a baby figurine inside- whoever gets the slice of cake is blessed but also must throw a party later on for all of the guests!
